Thom Atkins Class and Program

January 18th Saturday class, and January 19th Sunday Bead Society Meeting and Program

 We start the new year with a special program featuring Thom Atkins. Due to circumstances that do not permit Mingei to host this program in our regular meeting room, I have had to make some different arrangements.

New location and new dates for class and program.

Please make a note of these changes for this January 2014 only.

January 18, 2014 Saturday is a quilting class given by Thom Atkins:

 Beads and Bead Embroidery for Quilters

Nobel Recreation Center

Toscana Dr, San Diego, CA 92122

12:30 until 5:30 p.m.

 Free parking in adjoining flat lot. 

This is a hand quilting class.  Fee is $100 per student for members, and $125 per student for non members which includes the mandatory kit.  Kit is prepared by Thom Atkins so that the  fabric, design and beads all coordinate and teach you the elements of using beads in quilting with success. The project is a 9" by 9" quilted square.  There are 20 spots in class.

Members get the first priority until December 10th. Check must accompany all registrations.  After December 10th, registration is open to non members. I will start a waiting list.  Refunds will be given until January 10th and only if your spot is sold.

Directions: Exit 805 at Nobel drive. Turn left. Drive to Shorline Dr. Turn right. Turn right at the first street Toscana Dr.  Drive to the end of the street and enter the parking lot on your right. 

I am including some sample photos made by the instructor for this class.  There will be a choice of colors and fabrics available.  The square is prepared as a quilt fabric sandwich and the coordinated beads are provided.  I will email any additional materials you might bring to registered students.

From the North:

From Interstate 5, take Rosecrans South. Enter NTC at Liberty Station at Roosevelt and Rosecrans (Gate 3). Free parking is available in all parking lots.

From the South:

From Interstate 5, take the Pacific Highway exit. Stay to the left and take the Barnett Avenue exit. Continue straight onto Lytton. Take a left on Sellers Plaza (Gate 1). Sellers Plaza will merge to Truxtun. The NTC at Liberty Station buildings start at the corner of Truxtun and Dewey. Free parking is available in all parking lots.

From the East:

From Interstate 8, take the Rosecrans exit. Continue on Rosecrans to Roosevelt. Enter NTC at Liberty Station by taking a left on Roosevelt (Gate 3). Free parking is available in all parking lots.

From Downtown or the Airport:

From Downtown, take Harbor Drive past airport to Laning Road. Turn Right and take it to Rosecrans. Right on Rosecrans and right on Roosevelt (Gate 3). Free parking is available in all parking lot

Bus & Trolley Access:

Take the MTS Bus or Trolley to the Old Town Trolley Station. At the station, board the 28 bus and exit at the Roosevelt & Rosecrans stop.
